BIOGRAPHY

I think this fascination with the American west started when I was a young boy. On road trips my father who had always done a little research on the areas we were traveling, would point out old stage routes, historical markers and the direction of old mining towns. When I was about 13 years old I accompanied my family on a camping road trip throughout the Gold Rush Towns of California, Visiting many of the historic towns that I have listed here after return visits as an adult. I believe it was that trip that finally sealed my fate as an explorer. For the next 15 years I grew up always wanting to know what was down those old battered dirt roads that we all pass on the main highways. Many of the places mentioned here a result of this curiosity. A curiosity, that has on many occasions taken me miles and miles from civilization for days at a time. To me there is nothing like the howls of coyotes at night as your bedding down, or the smell of coffee and bacon over a campfire as the sun rises over a mountain ridge.

As for the rest of my world? I was always in some sort of mischief as a kid. Example? At the age of 7 my parents dragged me out of a water inlet at the local creek where I had been exploring by flashlight 1/4 mile from the entrance. As a teenager I signed my friend's report cards and played mom on the phone as the school counselors called our homes. Like many young people, I slept all day and played all night. And soon found myself recruited in to a local security company. As years grew on I progressed in to the different types of protection work that paid bigger money, like armed executive protection and investigations. I became an expert in surveillance and skip tracing. Eventually I found my passion as the managing director of the largest privately owned security and investigative agency in California. I continue my involvement in these fields today as well as other endeavors that I dabble. I have lived in the bay area all my life and met the woman who completes me at the age of 25. Married at the age of 27, my wife soon after gave birth to my daughter in 1997. I have two children, my first, Nicholas, whom I hope will accompany me some day on these explorations, lives with his mother in Oregon.
